would anybody be interested in using a moderator template to help track a game you host? i'm thinking if we use something like this, we'll be able to track stats and stuff for each player and each game.
the template i have has the time they die (day one, night 4, etc), affiliations, and abilities. it also helps track night actions and send out player pm's.

what do you guys think?

it's pretty easy, and it would go a long way to making this a legit gaming site. all you do is put a player, affiliation, power (if any), and then when they die, just put the period they died. i don't know what seems like a lot of work about it. most mods are pretty much doing this anyway.

does anyone else have a different template they use and would like to share?

i would think so. i mean, it's hard to keep track of everything going on in a mafia game otherwise, isn't it?

how do you track it? i use a spreadsheet. if we do something like this, i'd like for everyone to use a spreadsheet, that way it's super easy to import into a database.

I don't like spreadsheets and if that's anything like the one Homer showed me before it's way to complex for my tiny brain. :o

I usually just keep it all in a simple word file or in a saved email so it's accessiable whereever i am if I need it.

does anyone have anything to add? if we use something like this, we'll be able to have stats in our profiles like number of games played, average lifespan, number of times mafia, number of times town, win percentage, etc.

i haven't tested this on 2008. i know it'll work with 2003-2007. the mac version uses the same visual basic programming as windows. is it giving you specific errors or just not working at all?
the macros don't really do anything you can't do on your own. it filters the player list by living and dead, and then for the pm's it just puts a players name in cell a1 and fills in the rest of the pm. you could do the same thing without the macro

i'll see if i can get a trial version of 08 and make the macros again. i would think the 2003-2007 stuff would be forward compatible, but i guess that would make too much sense.

It seems pretty organized.

In the past I've put a lot of my info into a Word Document, but kept Day/Night actions in a spreadsheet.

Right now I'm developing a DOS program intended to keep track of nightly actions. I'm still new at it, so there are some stuff I won't be able to apply on the program (such as holding data, so whenever you use it you'll have to re-enter the data) but rest assured I will make sure it will be hassle-free.

When I'm done, I'll upload it here and let you guys try it out and see what you think of it. :D
