Have ever wondered how Mafia 1 could look like with a RTX mod? We have the answer! One RTX modder called PashOK has pulled it off! The mod has been released and you can check it in this video:
I was actually able to test the RTX mod in early access. PashOK was very kind to send an early build. The game was not stable and it was constantly crashing. With the new official release things have changed dramatically. With my RTX 3070 in the released version I was able to have stable 45+ FPS without any crashes. Unlike the previous the version, the release build has much more noise, but it does not seem to bother too much. The current version has more issues. Night scenes take place in the daytime (the night setting must be adjusted manually), models that are not static (like body models) refract light. The author promises to fix these issues in the upcoming updates. He manually fixed cars’ reflection as he shows in this video:
It is being discussed that the RTX mod could be used to shoot cutscenes for the Mafia 2: Mafia Remake mod. The idea is to edit graphics settings so as to make Mafia 1 look as close as possible to the look of Mafia 2.
The inspiration was this screen from another RTX project that is related to NFS Underground 2. Changin the settings made it look like GTA V!
